Bringing
Quality Art
into the Classroom and Community.
An
exciting array of materials and techniques keeps our
students of all ages highly motivated as they explore,
experience and express themselves as artists in a unique way.

Our
classroom and studio lessons include a working
history and vocabulary of art from ancient through middle to
modern times. However, we emphasize process over product
and exploration and experience over perfection.
We
offer numerous programs both for schools and the greater
community: |
| |
In
the schools, we offer both a docent training series and well
trained specialists who teach in the classroom directly. |
| |
We
cover all California Standards for the Visual Arts, including: 2D and
3D, tempera, acrylic, watercolor, chalk and oil pastel, pencil, and
numerous wire, clay, plaster and paper machι lessons. |
| |
We
currently go out to more than 10,000 students through 500
volunteer docents! Some of our docents have been with us
for nearly a decade. |
| |
We
include art history as well as vocabulary, and often a scientific
viewpoint of the art, as with shading and shadowing (the laws of
light) geometric shapes and forms (the laws of mathematics), and the
language of art: denotation, connotation, metaphor... |
| |
Our
docents become excellent teachers.
We
teach them thoroughly - with both the visual art and the art of
working in the classroom.
Our adult docents enjoy the classes
every bit as much as the students.
|
| |
Together
we cover: overview, technique, vocabulary, step-by-step instruction,
problem solving, classroom management, and trouble shooting. |
| |
Our
program is very process oriented. However, our products are
beautiful!! We do believe that the emphasis on process enhances
the whole art experience of creativity and problem solving. |
| |
Our
six year rotation of lessons works sequentially with strong
modifications for the Kindergarten and First Grade students.
Concepts are repeated, but the lessons change from year to year. |
| |
We
conduct "professional hours" classes and seminars for
teachers. |

|
| |
We
conduct workshops for adults and classes for all ages. |
| |
Our
studio offers summer classes throughout July for students 8
years and older -- including adults. |
| |
Group
and private classes at our studio can be arranged all year by emailing
or calling for more information. |
| |
And,
to re-energize, re-new, re-create...we have retreats
annually for adults.
Our next retreat is scheduled for March
14 - 16, 2008.
Please plan on attending. Click here
for more information. |
|
|

Together
we can inspire children's creative, perceptive and expressive
growth
through meaningful art experiences in a non-judgmental
environment.
If you are
interested or have questions, give us a call.
We would love to hear from you.
